Many people wait to reach out because they don’t believe they are “sick enough,” or because no one around them has ever pictured an eating disorder in a body like theirs.
Eating disorders affect people of every gender, body size, race, age, income, ability, and identity. They show up in men and boys. In athletes. In parents. In people who have never missed a day of work.
You should never have to prove your struggle to be worthy of care. If your relationship with food or your body is taking up room you’d rather spend on your life, that is reason enough to ask for support.
Every Body deserves care. Better starts here.

In this new blog from Within Health`s Jamie Singleteary, LPC, NCC, readers learn what can happen after formal treatment ends: how the transition home can bring unexpected anxiety, how everyday moments become the real practice ground for healing, and why ongoing support makes all the difference.
With compassion and honesty, Jamie reminds us that recovery isn`t measured by perfect days but by returning to it again and again, and that treatment is a milestone - not the destination.

An eating disorder can turn eating into a set of rules - something to earn, justify, or apologize for. That kind of constant negotiating is exhausting, and it is not a personal failing.
Nourishing yourself isn’t indulgence. It’s the same ordinary care you would offer someone you love without a second thought.
You are allowed to receive that care today. Not because you earned it, but because you are a person, and people need tending.
Food is nourishment, care, comfort, connection – and yes, it’s okay to find pleasure in it, too. You deserve all of it.

In this new blog from Within Health`s Jacob Selfridge, readers learn what can happen when silence and stigma keep men from seeking eating disorder treatment: how masculinity norms shape shame, how isolation can take hold, and why dedicated men`s groups create space to be understood.
With compassion and honesty, Jacob reminds us that healing happens in community and that inclusive treatment means meeting men exactly where they are.

THIS WEEK!
MEDA is pleased to welcome Amy Boyers, PhD, Co-Founder of Galen Hope, for a professional training THIS FRIDAY, September 18th: "Too Much of a Good Thing: Understanding Exercise Addiction & Compulsive Exercise."
Movement is so often framed as unambiguously healthy that harmful patterns can hide in plain sight. This training examines how fitness culture contributes to delayed diagnosis, and why exercise addiction warrants clinical attention as a disorder in its own right - even in the absence of an eating disorder.
In this presentation, you`ll:
-> Recognize what exercise addiction and compulsive exercise look like in practice-> Understand the medical complications that can accompany them
-> Walk through the stages of treatment, including common interventions, mindful movement, and reintegrating movement during and after recovery
-> Explore how exercise addiction presents in athletes and the dilemmas that come with it
Dr. Boyers will also address how appropriate movement can be thoughtfully integrated into eating disorder treatment. Register now at the link in our bio via the MEDA calendar.
