From Burnout to Balance: Compassionate Self-Care Strategies While Treating High-Acuity Eating Disorders

Presented by:

Laura Rickles, LCAT, ATR-BC

As clinicians, we are constantly adapting to the evolving landscape of social issues, systemic stressors, and widespread mental health disparities. In the realm of eating disorders, trends show increasing acuity, heightened symptom severity, shrinking windows of tolerance, and low motivation. This is often paired with treatment at levels of care that do not align with clinical recommendations.

These challenges can lead to compassion fatigue, burnout, and high turnover, adding strain to already demanding work environments. This presentation offers practical tools to help clinicians:

  • Assess and maintain your own window of tolerance
  • Cultivate self-care and self-compassion through creative arts therapy

Art materials are recommended, and participants are invited to engage in creative expression during this networking event to support personal and professional well-being. Suggested materials include paper and a pen or pencil, along with any other art supplies participants would like to bring.

This NWAP is from 12 pm to 1 pm EST
